This Constantine II campgate from Constantinople (RIC VII Constantinople 27) has an interesting top row of the campgate decorated with dots. 19mm   3.4gm

Hi Victor,

What a coincidence. A few days ago I bought a very similar campgate, mainly due to the interesting dots in the top as well as the frame around the door. I have mine classified as RIC VII 20 as I thought it was draped and cuirassed. Is this correct?

I plan to clean mine a bit more so it should look even better :)

Your coin is laureate and cuirassed, with no drapery. I have attached two coins that are draped and cuirassed for comparison. On both, you can see the fibula pinning the cloak together on the right shoulder, seen as a small circular object. The front of the bust (chest) also has many lines that curve down a bit representing the folds of the cloak, versus the cuirassed only bust which has one or two lines that are pretty much straight.

Thanks for the help, Victor. I always get confused with draped and cuirassed.
