Hi to everybody! I'm new of the forum but I have already a question: how much are rare the AE4 of Theodosius II minted at Rome under the rule of Johannes? thanks in advance!  :)

Victor

Hello and welcome.

The VICTORIA AVGG type (victory with a wreath) is a bit rare, but SALVS REIPVBLICE (victory with trophy and captive) is fairly common. These are often poorly struck, so a coin with good centering that showed all the details might be considered rare, even though it is a common type.

thank you Victor. Is this a good specimen?

Victor

The obverse legend is not very clear and looks like it may be spelled incorrectly (some people like that, though). The reverse is a bit crude and hard to make out, so not a great example but still nice enough and very neat.

thank you, Clark. In hand is better, i'm not a great photographer  ;D

I just got this example from Johannes in the name of Theodosius II, it is RIC X Rome 1914. Sorry for the small picture, it is the seller's photo.

good specimen! Can I ask you how much you paid for it?
