Constantine I, SOLI INVICTO COMITI, Aquileia mint
« on: June 14, 2022, 09:44:08 AM »
I think it's not easy to find unlisted coins from Aquileia mint. RIC volumes VI and VII are exhaustive and the Paolucci&Zub book is a precious integration.
By the way a recently add to my series this nice Sol coin. A scarcer variant of RIC 144 or (more probably) a different issue

CONSTANTINVS P F AVG
SOLI INVICTO COMITI: “Sol stg. r., looking l., chlamys hanging behind, r. raised, l. holding up globe; to l., seated captive”
AQP
3,87gr 20mm
not in ric
not in Paolucci - Zub

Congratulations! The third example and probably the nicest.

Apparently Sutherland tried to combine two emissions into one (for unknown reason).

Thanks all!

Lech, i could talk with Arthur Zub and he mentioned an unlisted variant of RIC 141 with mars stg left, head right… but no pictures. So we must keep our eyes wide open 😁

No pictures? I know that pain. I am aware of many varieties which MAY exist but right now I have read only their descriptions (sometimes very vague) because... there are no pictures.
