Here is an unusual reverse type. It sold for 950 CHF in Leu 19

"Lot 3062. Maximianus, first reign, 286-305. Antoninianus (Bronze, 23 mm, 3.24 g, 6 h), Treveri, mid-end 293. MAXIMIANVS AVG Radiate and cuirassed bust of Maximianus to right. Rev. AVSPIC FEL / D / PTR Liberalitas standing front, head to left, holding counting-board in her right hand and caduceus in her left; at left, small figure, togate, standing right, raising his right arm. Cahn 59. Cohen 27. Estiot/Zanchi 29. RIC 471. Very rare and with a highly unusual reverse type. Minor deposits and with some areas of weakness, otherwise, nearly very fine."

Great type - did you buy it?

Too bad it doesn't have a design more customized to the legend !

This is part of a very interesting group of coins issued from Trier in 293-294 AD.

Here's the Estiot/Zanchi paper (from Numismatique Revue 171, 2014) that the attribution refers to.

There are three emissions of these with mint/issue marks: PTR C/D, PTR,  and PT. The first emission, only,  includes VOTIS X types, while the 2nd/3rd emissions, only, includes consular busts for the caesars, and these give us the dating. They seem to have started in 293 AD for Diocletian's decennalia, then continued into 294 AD when the caesars were both consul for the first time.

I'm not sure if these are post-reform (as the PTR mintmark suggests) or not (as the 293 AD start date suggests), but in either case they appear to be the first bronze coins issued from Trier, with many of the types derived from pre-reform Lyonese types, as Estiot notes.

I bid on it, but was not even close.
