small Chi-Rho fastener

I just won this object that looks like a fibula, at least the back looks like it may have had a pin. It might be a bit small for that though, so maybe just some sort of decorative pin. It also looks like it might be enameled. It is from Spain and the person selling it had other artifacts and coins that looked like metal detecting finds.

I was the underbidder - I'm surprised there wasn't more interest !

The seller says Roman, but I with that type of cross presumably not. Sometime middle ages, perhaps.

I'd be tempting to restore it, but maybe not very wise.

No, I don't have any idea about the date...I was hoping to find something similar online; but no luck yet.

Here's a cross of at least similar shape, currently on eBay.

The seller says it's Saxon which sounds about right, although hardly precise, and anways unverified. So, basically useless.

Looks nice though.

36mm 5.2g, claimed as silver (seems likely).

Yeah, that description is super vague. It's interesting if you want it, otherwise it is gobbleygook; which is a perfectly fine word for this situation. 

I "feel' that my fastener is 6-7th century, but I can only vaguely answer why!
