Two victories - Vot V Mvlt X
« on: October 21, 2020, 07:57:55 AM »
Good day ladies and gentlemen.

For this coin the reverse legend, from what I can distinguish, is
VICTORIAE DD NN AVG ET CAE or CAES
So the long legend, not

VICT DD NN....

From what I know, this type (two victories holding shield with this inscription) was struck under Magnentius, Decentius, Constantius II and Constantius Gallus. But only Magnentius and Decentius coins have the longer legend (again, from what I know)

I cannot distinghuish anything clearly on the obverse but the legend seems to end in TIVS .... NOB (?!) so this would suggest Decentius?!
On a closer look it could also very well be ... TIVS PF AVG with TRP in exergue and this would be Magnentius.
Mintmark also unclear.

Please confirm if my assumption is correct (long legend - Magnentius or Decentius only) and perhaps identifying it :)

Because of the obverse break to the right of the bust that starts with TIVS, it has to be Magnentius and, from what I can make out of the mintmark, it does seem to be from Trier.
