Title: Trier Constantinopolis two standards
Post by: ae22 on November 26, 2014, 06:02:24 PM
I have a couple official Constantinopolis' with one standard,  they seem to be fairly common.

I've been keeping an eye out for one with two standards, so when I saw this one I picked it up even though it is probably unofficial. It's the only one I've ever seen.

What do you guys think?  Your comments are always appreciated.

My first impression was unofficial...the obverse in particular doesn't look like the usual Trier portrait.

Plus, I am not even sure that this type was struck officially in the West. RIC VII lists one example from Trier (# 541) but then calls it a hybrid in the footnotes, so probably not official.
