Title: Fake Diocletian campgate?
Post by: tjaart on September 06, 2024, 05:17:36 AM
Hi all,

This coin arrived recwntly and in hand I have some concerns. In the photos it looks like it may have been cast. Am I just paranoid oe is this in fact a cast fake?

18mm, 2.7g

Thanks!

From the photos it only looks like the surfaces are a bit grainy/porous. If it is cast, there should be a seam on the edge; if not, I would say it is okay.

Thanks Victor! Here is a better image. I do not see any seam on the edge so things are looking good
