CNG recently auctioned several groups of ex-Dattari coins and I won several. Giovanni Dattari (1858- 1923) is best known for his Alexandrian coin collection, though he had a large collection of Late Roman bronze coins.
The first group is 8 coins of Licinius II and Crispus.
The second group is 10 campgates of Constantine I.
The third group is 8 coins of Crispus and Constantine II.
Very cool. I don't have many coins with a "pedigree." Dattari is a great one.
Ahah! You were the one that outbid me ;D I was also on the hunt for some of those pedigreed coins but missed out in this round.
Congrats!
sorry about outbidding you...I lost out on another of the groups. They had quite a few groups of ex-Dattari.
No problem :) Glad they went to a good home. The bidding on those Dattari lots were quite fierce. Some single coins went for $400+.

Most of them I am only temporarily housing. I will keep a few and the rest I will list on Vcoins individually. I don't know, though, if I can list them at anything close to a profit. I have found out many times, that people will often pay more in a CNG auction than they will for the same coins in my store.
