Title: Diocletian SALVIS AVGG ET CAESS FEL KART from Carthage
Post by: Victor on June 16, 2020, 10:41:19 AM
this example is almost fully silvered

Diocletian
A.D. 298-303
27x29mm    9.3g
IMP DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG; Laureate head right.
SALVIS AVGG ET CAESS FEL KART; Carthage standing facing, head left, holding fruits in both hands.
In ex. A
RIC VI Carthage 27a/31a

This type references the victory of Maximianus over the Quinquegentiani -- a rebellious tribe in North Africa.

Hi Victor,
very nice example. That's how the coin should have looked like when freshly minted, I suppose.

Congrats!

Yes, it is almost fully silvered...it's very minty! I will be hanging onto this example for a while.
