MAXIMINUS II HERCVLI VICTORI follis
« on: August 14, 2014, 05:19:40 PM »
Coin is:

MAXIMINUS II AE21mm 4.12g Follis (aVF)

AV: IMP C GAL VAL MAXIMINVS PF AVG; laureate draped cuirassed bust r.

REV: HERCVLI VICTORI; Farnese Hercules standing r. leaning on lion's skin on club; delta I in left field.

EXE: ANT* Antioch mint

REF: apparently unlisted variation, similar to RIC VI Antioch 170b - either an error in RIC or unlisted for this variation of officina letter location in the left field and ANT*, RIC lists ANT* w/ officina letters in r. field and ANT (no star) w/ officina letters in l. field.

Is it possible that I could have misread RIC about the location of officina letters on this issue and so their position either in the left or right fields is, thus, inconsequential?

Yes, it is an error in RIC, the officina is always in the left field.
