Title: Certification WAC
Post by: Heliodromus on October 08, 2021, 02:53:23 PM
Move over NGC ... there's a new guy in town !

Just saw this on eBay. The market wants slabs, so this guy is giving them slabs! Certified too (whatever that means).

The QR code on the back is just the URL certification-wac.com where it turns out that WAC is "World Antic Collection",  the certification arm of this eBay seller "Antic World Collection". I guess cert-awc doesn't quite have the same ring to it as cert-whack.

He's even outdone NGC in having a measurement on the slab, although who knows what's being measured (PRD would actually be very useful). Choice of Cohen/Sear as references seems a bit questionable. I see a lot of unlisted coins coming from these guys...

There is an old post on CT when this guy first started on eBay. At least he is following the rule that only eBay-approved companies (NGC, PCGS, ANACS, ICG, PMG, or Legacy Currency Grading) are allowed to show grades.
