Title: Excellent barbarous Constantine I campgate
Post by: tjaart on March 03, 2020, 02:26:52 PM
Hi all,

I just wanted to share this fantastic unofficial campgate I managed to get. On closer inspection it almost appears as if the obverse is double struck. Overall I find the style really good. The only giveaway is the non-existent mintmark, which seems to be TPL and the bungling of the reverse legend. Otherwise, a really nice almost official looking coin.

congrats...it is a nice example. It looks like maybe a dot at the start of the mintmark, or perhaps just a partially struck letter.

I was wondering about that. In hand it looks like it is part of the mintmark but I cannot match any letter except some sort of reverse gamma. Still, I am really happy to have this one.
