Title: fake Constantine SPES PVBLIC from Constantinople

this coin is currently up for auction from Numismatik Naumann. It started life as a campgate though. You can see the blocks on the snakes body. They do have it described as "tooled" so that is something...but wow, that reverse is really bad-- what are they thinking?  :P

Good eye on the bricks in the snake body. You would think an auction house with a high dollar coin would do at least as much due diligence.

Lars Ramskold had an article in the Celator in 2009 about one of these tooled campgates. I imagine that this one will be pulled shortly, but it is odd that they even listed it.

If I’m going to fake a SPES, I would sure tool a better Chi-Rho!
