Title: Crispus from Trier with Chi-Rho on shield
Post by: Victor on April 25, 2013, 02:50:26 PM
This Crispus coin has a Chi-Rho on the shield. It is RIC VII 372 (Alten & Zschuke 113), and in the footnotes for this coin, another example (also from the first workshop) with a Chi-Rho on the shield is mentioned. I will post a better picture and the measurements when I get it.

Great find indeed! It seems to be the IX monogram rather chi-rho.

Alten & Zschuke list 42 different types and some of those have varieties...that should keep you busy for a long time.

The coin finally arrived. The surfaces are rough, but it looks better in hand.
