Title: Recording irregular flans

Is there a standard way to record irregular flans in coin descriptions? Sometimes I'll see a coin size expressed as 18 mm.  Then sometimes it might be 18x20 mm. for a slightly irregular flan. Is the width recorded first, or is there no standard order?

I put the smallest size first.
