Title: Constantine I unofficial Ticinum VLPP with cross on altar
Post by: Victor on July 13, 2018, 10:43:25 AM

here's a nice example of an unofficial Ticinum VLPP. You don't often find them from Ticinum and this one also has the cross on the altar. It is also a pretty good copy, though they made a mess of the mintmark; perhaps they were copying a Trier design, as RIC notes for Trier 221 a coin with Greek cross on altar and the mintmark is •PTR. I believe Ticinum is more likely given the rarity of the Trier example.

Second coin below is an official issue.
