Rome - unlisted bust type
« on: April 12, 2014, 09:26:06 PM »
RIC lists a number of bust types for the VIRTVS AVGG campgates with 3 turrets and closed doors, but not this one (H8 l); Not in RIC includes an example, but it is a different officina (P) to this coin (T)

That's a nice example...I had a ROMAE AETERNAE with the same bust.

I've been looking for some time for a campgate with closed doors. That is a great example.

Thanks for the replies - it's a neat coin, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be overstruck (or perhaps a die clash) looking at the reverse in particular

Very nice coin! I would be grateful for the usual data: weight and diameter.
