Title: Looted coins from Syria on eBay
Post by: Victor on March 19, 2015, 05:06:13 PM
The article in the link below talks about coins that have been looted from Syria that are now showing up for sale on eBay. This, however, is complete rubbish and a prime example of yellow journalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_journalism).

2,000 year old artefacts looted ISIS ancient sites Iraq Syria sold EBAY (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2994538/2-000-year-old-artefacts-looted-ISIS-ancient-sites-Iraq-Syria-sold-EBAY.html?offset=0&max=100&jumpTo=comment-79849605#comment-79849605)

I have included screenshots of the listings from eBay. The seller is also a Vcoins dealer and has stated that these coins actually came from a 2014 CNG sale...but let's not allow facts to get in the way of a good story.

Most of the comments are idiotic also, but a few people do ask how the writer of the article knows that the coins are looted.

I also worry sometimes that coins from dealers located in the middle east might actually be used to fund nefarious acts. But these guys from Daily Mail have perfected the means to make legitimate worries fuel wild goose chases and witch hunts.
