Title: Constantine II unoffical Ticinum campgate
Post by: Victor on July 30, 2017, 03:26:04 PM
here is a neat Ticinum copy. It's in pretty good style, except for those crazy looking turrets on the campgate.    18mm    2.7gm

here's another example that just sold for $200

the seller's description is below, and despite the title of "possible mule" there is no possibility that it is official.

"Possible Mule of Constantine I/II

Constantine II. As Caesar, A.D. 316-337. Æ follis. 2.24 gm. 18.5 mm. Ticinum mint, 1st officina. His laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust left; CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C / Camp gate with two turrets, no star above; D N CONSTANTINI MAX AVG around, P(crescent)T in exergue. RIC VII 199 var. (bust right, star above gate). Cf. LRBC 495-499. Good Very Fine; brown patina."

Those are nice campgates! I was an underbidder on the first one but did not even see the second one. Such nice coins.
