Title: RIC Confirmation Rome Urbs Roma
Post by: six2ten on June 03, 2023, 03:57:56 AM
RIC volume VII, number 396 has a question mark against the officina, and the following footnote: "LRBC [Late Roman Bronze Coinage] 571 records the R*Q as the normal mark and the variety with a wreath in the rev. field as an additional mark. No wreathless coins are known except for this FH [Fayoum Hoard] specimen; conceivably the missing wreath is due to inaccurate description"

This coin therefore confirms that the Fayoum Hoard description is accurate. Weight is 1.42 g, diameter 13.5 x 15 mm

Nummus-Bible also has an example
