Title: Sol Numismatik auction-- orange patinas
Post by: Victor on February 03, 2024, 08:44:18 AM
If you are bidding in this auction, as I am, you may not be aware but most of the coins have been re-patinated. Notice all the orange desert patinas. If I win any, they will go into acetone soaks.

It is deceptive as it is not mentioned in the descriptions.

A good reason to not bid. Who knows what lies beneath.

Re-patination is probably easier and quicker than nice cleaning.

I won a couple of coins from them a few weeks ago. I will go back and check.

Yeah.  Looks like I might have to do some Cheetos scrubbing.

I won some cheap Crusader coins but I also won the LIBERATOR ORBIS; which I know will be a hot mess. I hope that I can help it out somehow.

Congrats on that L.O. I thought it went reasonably; that coin in any condition is special.
