Title: Constantine I campgate from Alexandria
Post by: Victor on March 09, 2017, 03:02:25 AM
This coin is not listed in RIC. For the SMAL• series (RIC 54), RIC only lists an E8 bust with a legend with MAX in it. The series preceding with no dot, just SMAL, has the same obverse legend and bust type. So this coin is a nice transitional piece, right before the change to diadems.

That explains the high price it went for. Thanks for the interesting info, Victor!
