Title: almost 40 year old Sear certificate
Post by: Victor on April 07, 2017, 12:36:11 PM
below is a coin of Gallienus that came with a Sear certificate from 1978. It is interesting to see an almost four decade old certificate from Sear, but I could not help but wonder why anyone would have wanted to certify a coin that even today would not be worth more than $10-20 on a good day. In fact, I would value the certificate more than the coin. What I really found interesting was that it was shipped using old US stamps. The 1 cent green stamp to the far left is from 1924. The 3 cents stamps are from the 1950's and the 13 cent stamps are from the 70's, many are bicentennial issues.

The stamps might be worth more than the coin.

The stamps might be worth more than the coin.

especially if they had not been used for postage.
