Title: Licinius Hercvli
Post by: Heliodromus on April 10, 2022, 01:02:01 PM
Another from eBay seller coinmaster_01- he's offered a number of this type.

Most of his coins are horrible quality casts, but this one is not bad except for all the loss of detail (esp. hair).

What's interesting to me is the variety of patinas we see on fakes from different sources. This one looks fairly convincing to me - good job the coin itself stands out as fake.

Yes, it doesn't look bad in the photo. In hand it might be less convincing.

What a shame with this Licinius!... Thanks Ben for posting pictures on FAC.

And what do you think about this specimen? Also fake or prototype for all these cast fakes (as shape of the flan suggests)

Mmm it looks convincing but there are a couple of casting “bouble” on the reverse.

Well, it was sold on FAC.

I believe that Joe was (with this coin in hand) more careful than me.

And this one is from Facebook. Please note the same perfectly rounded defect on the left Hercules pectoral.

These coins are linked for sure. But are they from the same mold or this one sold by FAC was used to make this mold. It is very convincing and considerably much sharper than the rest of his "family".

on all the coins except the one sold by FORVM, the P of IMP looks more like a D.

What coin do you have in mind?

FORVM coin has evidently "D":
