Crispus BEATA from Lyons with 2 stars
« on: May 17, 2016, 11:14:08 AM »
This coin has only two stars over the altar instead of the normal three. It's an engraving error though, instead of a proper variation since the engraver ran out of room for the middle star. You can see clearly see the one to the left of the globe, while the one on the right is barely visible, almost obscure by the altar and the Q in the legend. There just was not room for the middle star due to the crowded space.
