This bust type is not in RIC, but is in Die römische Münzserie Beata Tranquillitas in der Prägestätte Trier 321-323 (RMBT) as 17r (no. 87), which they describe as a variation of RIC 383, which has an I2 bust, which is laureate and draped, victory on globe in right, with scepter in left. I would not call this a variation, but a different bust type. Some might even call this one trabeate, but there is that somewhat indistinct and sometimes even arbitrary designation.

I saw it but didn't bid believing it would reach high level.
IMHO, I believe it is a consular bust because of the consular attributes. Anyway, what is very interesting is the right arm on which we can see an obiculus.
We can see a wide range of obiculi on magnificent mosaics of Villa Casale in Sicily.

and a little more than I would bid, as I was the second highest bidder! I was a bit surprised it sold for such a price, even though it is Not in RIC, it has some condition issues- a bit of the surfaces are flaking off.

I think a seller deserves a fair price for his coins. To me, this coin was very desirable, partly because of rarity and partly because of the interesting and pleasing to look at depiction of CII. Considering the fact that I don't see another example offered anywhere else, or even on NOT IN RIC for that matter, I think that 150$ is a fair price for it. It's the same price I paid for Victor's CII globe and spear on vcoins, an equally desirable coin to have.

I guess that what Nikko was meaning is that, we, the four who post in this thread, could have make the price rising much more than if we had know the intention of each other before and have conclude a kind of gentlemen agreement to non overbid.
Note that some forums have a non public section where members discuss about the coins they have seen or want to bid on.
Anyway, I agree that your coin is a good and desirable one and worth the price you paid (over the one I was ready to pay for) . I have to say that I know guys who would have paid more for it. A chance they do not have seen  it .

This is quite a niche forum, so we know we all share very similar interests. As a collector, I wouldn't dare ask a fellow collector not to bid on a coin because I want it, unless maybe we were good friends and knew each other personally.
And in my opinion a price attained by bidding over a low starting price is a signal to the sellers: this is what sells better, this is what you need to be focusing on, this is what collectors like.

On another note, because of this I will probably not afford to buy that very interesting Decentius GLORIA ROMANORVM that is also available now.

There is a problem with this type. RMBT lists it as RIC 383v, but does not list proper 383.

So only one type exists, and we may say that the coin in question is in fact 383, but with wrong description in RIC. I2 is only the closest match possible.
