AETERNA-PIETAS, RIC VIII ???
« on: March 03, 2014, 11:35:57 AM »
I usually consult RIC VII but when i have to open volume VIII it's always a trouble  :-[

I picked up this tiny coin from an unattributed junk box and it looks to be a rare (really rare?) postumous issue from Lyon.

My doubts are:
RIC 1 or RIC 2? PLG or SLG?

I don't see any laurels, so i think it is veiled only. The officina, while far from clear, looks more like an S than a P. These small coins frequently have hard to read mintmarks, even the examples for RIC 2 and 3 couldn't be verified.

Thanks Victor ;)
It looks to be veiled, drapped and cuirassed, as it was  described by Bastien who also reported a specimen from officina S.

By this picture i'm pretty sure it's from secunda officina.
