Constantine I VIRTVS EXERCIT from Aquileia
« on: October 24, 2013, 09:47:17 PM »
This coin is not listed in RIC, but the same mintmark is listed for Licinius (RIC VII 63).

“Constantine I. A.D. 307/10-337. Æ follis (18 mm, 3.02 g, 11 h). Aquileia, A.D. 320. CONST-ANTINVS AVG, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine I right / VIRTVS EXERCIT, two captives seated at foot of banner inscribed VOT/XX in two lines; AQP. RIC -. Dark green, almost black, patina, a little rough. Very fine.”

I wanted this coin because it used to be in my collection. I sold it on VAuctions in September of 2009 for $45.00. After fees, this time the coin cost me about 150.00, maybe a bit much, but I enjoy buying coins that I used to own.

How strange people are the numismatists. But I like this idea, and the coin also.
Hard work for Lech, "ex-new Victor Clark's collection." :D
Should we expect Crispus, Licinius II and Constantine II for this issue?

I would not be surprised to find them.
