Constantine II / Virtvs Exercit imitated from Trier 274
« on: January 27, 2013, 05:45:20 AM »
As I like Virtvs Exercit coinage from Trier, I like their imitations too:

The original prototype

It is interesting to see that the counterfeiter has chosen a coin which is not so easy to imitate, a GE would have been easier to reproduce.

Here a nice one with trophy and a laureate/helmeted portrait unlisted within official coinage.

Very nice, I suppose the engraver has mixed different obverses, may be a VLPP with Virtvs Exercit #279 legend and has engraved a #279 reverse omitting dot before PTR.
Any way, again a good style for an unofficial coin.
