Jovian VOT V from Alexandria with cross in badge
« on: June 21, 2018, 11:13:34 AM »
this coin has an undersize flan with almost no legend, but the wreath has a nice clear depiction of an equilateral cross. Did it have Christian significance or was it perhaps just an attractive design...I don't believe that the answer will ever be known for sure (barring some ancient source discussing it); but we can speculate.
