1,000 uncleaned and "unsearched" coins
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:41:04 AM »
Maybe you have seen these for sale -- an unopened bag of 1,000 uncleaned and unsearched coins. You should never buy one of these. A few years ago I bought a lot of 1,000 off eBay, mainly out of curiosity, but also hoping that maybe 25% would be decent. Below are pictures of what I received. They were almost all dusty slugs with no detail, maybe 25-30 were identifiable, far from the 250 that I was hoping to find in decent shape. Of course they were searched, as they were obviously sorted by wear. I returned them, and the seller was polite and claimed he actually had no idea what type of coins were inside the "unsearched" bags. I didn't believe him and he continues to sell this type of garbage.
